The Blockheads
Saturday 30th April, 7.30pm. The East Quay
April 30th sees one of punk and new wave’s best loved bands at The East Quay, Whitstable. More than 10 years since Ian Dury’s death, The Blockheads career steams on.
Expect to hear classics, such as “Clevor Trever”, “Sweet Gene Vincent”, “What A Waste”, and “Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3”. And tracks from the new album “Staring Down The Barrel”, released last year to coincide with the 30th anniversary of “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick” – which reached No.1 in the UK singles chart, selling in excess of 1 million copies. Reckon they’ll play that to.
Given the times, those Blockheads sound more here and now than anyone Uncut
Dury would be proud Mojo
Ian Dury owed his brilliance to no one. But he owed his stardom to The Blockheads The Word
