Caravan support announced

We are delighted to announce Canterbury band, THE BOOT LAGOON, will be supporting Canterbury Scene legends, CARAVAN at their Whitstable gig at The East Quay on November 23rd.

With their love of old vinyl, valve amps, analogue synths and odd time signatures, The Boot Lagoon sound like nothing else coming out of their age bracket.  “The Canterbury muse is singing again!” enthused Gong legend (and instigator of the psychedelic ‘Canterbury scene’ of yore) Daevid Allen to a BBC TV interviewer after seeing them play a festival set in the summer of 2009.

You can hear echoes of those bands like Egg, Hatfield and the North, Soft Machine and Caravan in the sound of this adventurous four-piece, but there’s an urgency, intensity and just-plain-weirdness about their sound which sets them apart from mere ‘progressive rock’ revivalists. Their live sets can feel like being dragged by the scruff of your neck on a whirlwind tour of a mansion, each room of which was designed by M.C. Escher!  But offsetting the precision and mathematical complexity of their music is an underlying soulfulness and evident sense of deep personal and collective commitment to the open-ended musical journey they are engaged in.

Doors are at 7.30 and The Boot Lagoon will be on shortly after. GET THERE EARLY.

Tickets are available here or in person at Gatefield Sounds in Whitstable and in Herne Bay as well as Canterbury Rock in Canterbury.
